In these glum times, it's easy to look for something to give us a positive ray of light. The upcoming remastered version of Star Wars Episode I: Racer was that little bit of sunshine. The game that puts you in the cockpit of a pod racer during The Phantom Menace time period was one of the better games ever put out from the expansive Star Wars gaming library. Just a couple months ago, it was announced that the 1999 video game was getting a re-release port for the Nintendo Switch and the Sony Playstation 4. Now, it looks as though the project has been delayed due to the long running stay at home order. The team behind the remastered version that features more detailed controls has been feverishly working to hit their May 12th launch date but ultimately, developer Aspyr has announced that work has been stilted by Covid-19.
They posted to their Twitter earlier that they're going to keep working on it but that the global pandemic has put a damper on them hitting any of their deadlines. Alongside many other titles, Racer will eventually be released but won't hit their initial deadline. Obviously, delaying on street date is not going to sit well with many gamers.
We are so excited to share Star Wars Episode l: Racer with you soon! Unfortunately, due to the ongoing work from home requirements across the industry, the game will be further delayed on Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4. We’ll be back with an update as soon as possible.— Aspyr (@AspyrMedia) May 11, 2020
