Adult Swim Con: Online Convention To Feature Blade Runner: Black Lotus

With many fan conventions such as Comic Con and others canceling their 2020 events over pandemic/social distancing concerns, the Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim has decided to stage their Adult Swim Con online and completely free at AdultSwimCon.com. The virtual convention that runs from July 23-25 will feature cosplay contests, musical guests, a DJ set, and events centered around Rick and Morty and Robot Chicken.

But the big news here will be Blade Runner: Black Lotus.

Two years after its initial announcement, Adult Swim finally is ready to begin rolling out this mysterious 13-episode anime series (produced in conjunction with Crunchyroll and Alcon Entertainment) that takes place 17 years before the events shown in Denis Villeneuve’s epic, Blade Runner: 2049 and 10 years after the anime short film Blade Runner: Black Out 2022.

The animation will be handled by Sola Digital Arts (Ultraman) and the series will be directed by Shinji Aramaki (Appleseed) and Kenji Kamiyama (Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex).

Shinichirō Watanabe (Cowboy Bebop, Samurai Champloo), who also directed Blade Runner: Black Out 2022 is on as producer.

Very little (except for the time-frame) is known about the show, other than that it will be starring several familiar characters from the various feature/short films within the (gradually expanding) Blade Runner universe.
Hopefully, the Adult Swim Con will be showcasing clips, artwork, interviews, and other fun stuff for fans eager for more LIFE, f****r.

A release date is also expected to drop at the convention too, so while we’re all waiting for July 23rd just remember: why be a repliCANT when you can be a repliCAN?
