With news breaking about a new Evil Dead sequel called Evil Dead Now, it looks like the original film is about to get another theatrical jaunt at the drive-in. Considering that most theaters are currently shut down globally, horror seems to be making a massive comeback right now. The current release of The Wretched has held the number one box office spot for several weeks as other films continue to drop at the drive-in. Now, the cult favorite Evil Dead will be the next movie to see new life in the format. Grindhouse Releasing has announced that the Sam Raimi movie will get a re-release starting on June 13th with its first screening at Pride's Corner Drive-In in Westbrook, Maine. More locations are expected to be announced soon! This new release is a 2K scan of the original 16mm print of Evil Dead and will feature the original score.

The Evil Dead began in 1981 and continued with Evil Dead II: Dead by Dawn, Army of Darkness, a reboot and the television series Ash vs Evil Dead from 2015-2018. Bruce Campbell will not be starring in the next continuation of the saga but has been heavily involved in promoting the project.

We'd say keep your eyes out locally for any screenings of the classic Evil Dead.
