Dancing On the Ceiling: Lionel Richie Musical in the Works At Disney

After a drastically long and slow news cycle, things are finally starting to heat up again. Numerous big stories have broken over the last couple days. But perhaps the happiest news of all is that Disney is getting to work on a new musical journey that will be based on the works of Lionel Richie. Yes, that's what we just said. As one of the most legendary American musicians around with a catalog of amazing '80s hits, the Mouse House has officially optioned a film that will be centered around his song catalog.

The film which is tentatively titled All Night Long will be penned by Crazy Rich Asians scribe Pete Chiarelli. No one is attached to direct as the film is in the early stages of development. With so many films like Bohemian Rhapsody and Rocketman having excellent cinematic runs, it seems a perfect time to get some Richie music into theaters, although this is said to be more comparable to something like Mamma Mia, which is focused on a musical catalog instead of a specific artist.

We'll update as we hear more. But it seems that Lionel Richie is finally getting some more due respect. We can't wait to see where this goes!!
