It's that time again where we finally have a piece of news that isn't about something getting delayed by the Covid-19 crisis. While everything else is slowly starting to reopen, studios are developing and looking into whatever they can make when things get back to normal again. Yep, these stories will keep happening as the world tries to return to normal. This time, it's about the status of Marvel's Daredevil in the MCU.
Fans have waited with bated breath to hear about what is going to happen to Daredevil after the series was canceled by Netflix back in 2018. The series itself was critically acclaimed and said to be very popular (Netflix was not releasing the viewership numbers for their shows at the time) but was the victim of circumstances outside of the show's control. Disney had publicly announced that they were developing the service that would become Disney Plus. With Netflix and Disney set to be rivals in the streaming content wars, the Netflix shows that were co-produced by Marvel and Netflix were quickly canceled and fans were left wondering what is coming next. Since then, there has not been a lot of noise or news about the future of these characters.
Due to a clause in the contracts between Marvel and Netflix, the characters are unable to be used for two years. This went into effect immediately after the shows were canceled. Daredevil's contract with Netflix is set to expire six months from now along with Iron Fist and Luke Cage's. Will Daredevil return on Hulu, or in a Disney Plus show, or even in a movie? There is no word yet on what the future may hold for Daredevil but we suspect that knowing how much the fans love Daredevil, we will see him sooner rather than later.
