Exit The Matrix: Laurence Fishburne Says He Wasn't Asked To Join The Matrix 4

The latest entry in The Matrix saga began production way back in February but was shut down due to the coronavirus. Now, as things begin to ramp up, Laurence Fishburne has revealed that he was never asked to reprise his role as Morpheus in the fourth movie. Although original stars like Keanu Reeves, Carrie Anne Moss, Jada Pinkett Smith and Lambert Wilson will all be returning as part of the core group of The Matrix 4, Fishburne was left out of the project with no invite to return. Mr. Fishburne recently told The Wrap:

"I have not been invited. Maybe that will make me write another play. I wish them well. I hope it's great."

His dynamic presence will definitely be missing from the movie as he was such an integral part of the story. Some have estimated that there may be a younger Morpheus in the fourth movie. Yet, the plot has been totally secret with no details leaked about the plot. Hugo Weaving has also revealed that he will not be returning to The Matrix either. Joe Pantoliano was petitioning for his dead character to come back, but was fully denied by Lana Wachowski.

We'll update as we hear more!!
