The Return of X: Chris Carter Creating Animated X-Files Spin-Off

Just when you thought we were safe from any more X-Files revivals, Chris Carter is once again back to retread his FOX television legacy. That's right. Carter is bringing his science fiction based series back as an animated show that will center on a new team of agents called the B-Team. The new team of misfits will be assigned to investigating aliens, monsters, and conspiracies in a new program called The X-Files: Albuquerque. Bento Box of Netflix's Hoops has been given the job of animating the series, which doesn't have a release date as of yet. And there are no actors assigned to the lead roles quite yet either. TV Line reported on the latest revival tonight.

Over the course of its run, The X-Files has seen numerous returns, a couple movies, and tacked on seasons that just muddied the waters of the pre-existing canon. For some reason Chris Carter thinks its once again time to dip his toes in the water by experimenting with his most famous creation. We'll give him the benefit of the doubt again, but will be limiting expectations based on the last live action season featuring Mulder and Scully.

The entire X-Files catalog is currently streaming on Hulu but this latest iteration still has no home. It will most likely hit one of the streaming services since it probably wouldn't be a big enough hit to air on FOX TV. Or maybe it will.  As usual, we'll update as we hear more.
