TMNT: Seth Rogen Gives An Update on His New Turtles Animated Project

For some reason, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles has been a hard comic to get translated to screen properly. Through various live action movies, several animated incarnations, and various other versions, it's just been a comic that's been hard to get right when taking it from the page to the screen. Now Seth Rogen says he knows what's been missing and he plans on fixing it. He says that his new CGI animated version will concentrate more on the coming of age tale that's been skipped over so needlessly in the past:

“As a lifelong fan of Ninja Turtles, weirdly the ‘Teenage’ part of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was always the part that stuck out to me the most. And as someone who loves teenage movies, and who’s made a lot of teenage movies, and who literally got their start in their entire profession by writing a teenage movie, the idea of kind of honing in on that element was really exciting to us. I mean, not disregarding the rest, but really using that as kind of a jumping off point for the film.”

As someone that appears to truly love TMNT, Rogen has assembled quite the squad to tackle the project. Evan Goldberg and James Weaver are both on board as producers. Jeff Rowe of Gravity Falls has been attached to helm the project with Brendan O'Brien handling scripting duties. This will be the first time in a decade that the Turtles get a fresh animated film as it's being taken over by Nickelodeon Animation Studios.

It'll be interesting to see where this goes! Cowabunga!!!
