Hello, Sidney: Scream 5 Wraps Production in Wilmington, North Carolina

While some fans are not so sure about a Scream movie with no Wes Craven, the latest film has officially wrapped production in Wilmington, North Carolina. The fifth movie is helmed by Ready or Not director Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett. Craven passed in 2015 and had directed all four of the previous entries. This newest Scream is said to take the franchise in a new direction and will bring back several key players including Neve Campbell, Courtney Cox, and David Arquette. Scream 4 was a critical failure but still continued the legacy of Craven's horror legacy. Initially the project was thought to be a total reboot of the franchise, but is instead another continuation of the entire Scream saga. Filming over the COVID-19 pandemic proved to be challenging for the production but finally completed this week.

A release date has been set for January 2022 as Tweeted by writer Kevin Williamson who has also returned to the franchise for this fifth and possibly final installment in the long running series. Check out his post below!

The new film will be simply titled Scream.
