The Russo Bros. action flick Extraction proved to be quite a hit for the streaming service. Now they've set in stone an upcoming sequel to the movie that featured Chris Hemsworth in the lead role. He'll be returning along with both Anthony and Joe Russo. They're actively working on the script right now and plan on heading into production sometime in 2021 as long as the pandemic begins to taper off. They actually revealed that they're planning multiple films in the series and will be making more than one sequel. When speaking with ComicBook.com, Joe had this to say:

“Yeah we’re still working on two. We’re in the script phase right now but we’re hoping to shoot that sometime next year. And then you know, say I’m super excited, Hemsworth’s super excited, Netflix is excited so it’s really just a function of getting the script done.”

The first film featured Chris Hemsworth as mercenary Tyler Rake. While the movie wasn't necessarily a critical success, it was a major hit for Netflix, bringing in some major numbers for the studio. The Russos also produced the first movie with Hemsworth, Mike Larocca, and Eric Glitter. There's no word on the streaming date as of yet, but we'd guess it'll probably get a 2022 release since it's so early in development.
