The Curious Case of David Fincher: Director Signs 4 Year Deal With Netflix

Fans of David Fincher are about to get a lot more excited. The director of Fight Club, Se7en, Gone Girl and numerous other amazing films has officially signed with Netflix to develop and direct films for the next four years. Although his Mindhunter series has been put on ice at the streamer for now, they're giving him a blanket deal that that will allow him to begin working on brand new projects for the service. Fincher recently told the French publication Premiere that he had signed for another four years which means he may already be under contract by the studio:

Yes, I have an exclusivity deal with [Netflix] for another four years. And depending on Mank's reception, I’ll either go see them sheepishly asking them what I can do to redeem myself or take the attitude of the arrogant asshole who’ll require making other films in black and white. [Laughs] No, I’m here to deliver them ‘content’ — whatever it means— likely to bring them spectators, in my small sphere of influence.

This news breaks closely to his latest movie premiere for Netflix. His newest movie Mank will begin on Netflix in December with a limited theatrical release also right around the corner. This newest project has already been discussed as a definite Oscar contender.
