We Can Be Heroes: Sharkboy and Lavagirl Return in Netflix Movie

After years of missing from the theatrical landscape, Sharkboy and Lavagirl will return in the new Netflix film from Robert Rodriguez, We Can Be Heroes. The newest project from Rodriguez will hit Netflix on New Year's Day 2021. Taylor Dooey will return to her role as Lavagirl but Sharkboy has been replaced by JJ Dashnaw. Sharkboy was originally played by Twilight star Taylor Lautner, who chose not to return to the part. The pair will be playing parents to a younger super hero played by Vivien Lyra Blair aka Girl from Bird Box. 

This new iteration of the characters is written, directed and produced by Robert Rodriguez for Netflix. He just directed Alita: Battle Angel which is still drumming up hope for a sequel. This will be the first time these two characters have been on screen since 2005's The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl 3-D. We think it will be interesting to see these characters again years later....as adults.
