After a maligned final season, fans are still not totally sold on a spin-off for Game of Thrones. But the show is moving ahead anyways. Today it was announced that House of the Dragon would officially begin production in 2021. A post on Twitter simply stated "Dragons are coming" with two new images of the new creatures that will be part of the series. The Targaryen fire breathers will obviously be a central focus for the first offspring of HBO's long running hit show.

Based on George R.R. Martin's book, House of the Dragon will take place 300 years before the events of the original show and will center on House Targaryen. The president of HBO Programming says the new series will premiere some time in 2022 and will be using some of the directors behind GOT including Miguel Sipochnik, who helmed fan favorite chapters, Battle of the Bastards and The Long Night.
