The long discussed sequel to Edge of Tomorrow is still at the top of director Doug Liman's list. There have been talks about a part two for roughly three years now. The original film went on to gross $370 million worldwide and was another relative science fiction action hit for star Tom Cruise. A while back they announced that they'd be moving forward with another movie that would return back to the futuristic world of Live Die Repeat with both Cruise and Blunt returning to their respective roles in the continuation. However, things have been tough on Hollywood the last year and Tom Cruise continues to pick up other projects.

Now Doug Liman has spoken about the project and says that they still want to move forward but they really can't make any momentum until both featured stars have a clear schedule and can commit to making the feature. Blunt has room now that she's waiting for her last two projects to get released. Cruise is still wrapped up in two Mission Impossible movies and continues to sign on for new films. As of now, neither are fully on board after both had expressed interest in a sequel. Here's what he had to say when speaking with Collider:

"It’s one of these things where if Tom, Emily and I were to say, ‘we’re ready to pull the trigger on this script,’ it’s Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt, the film gets made. That’s pretty much how Hollywood works. The stars are the gatekeepers. If you can get Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt to commit to the movie, it’s going to happen."

The planned sequel was said to be called Live Die Repeat Repeat.
