After an amazing first couple weeks on the streaming platform, Netflix has officially announced that their superhero movie We Can Be Heroes will be getting a sequel. The film which sees the return of Sharkboy And Lava Girl has been a huge hit for the studio. Over 44 million households have already watched it since its Christmas week release. Robert Rodriguez (Sin City, From Dusk Til Dawn, Desperado) headed the project for Netflix and is said to return for the sequel when it gets underway. Rodriguez recently worked with Disney+ on an episode of The Mandalorian which delivered his signature style action. He will be involved in developing the next We Can Be Heroes sequel for the streamer with no word yet on a release or production date.
Sharkboy and Lava Girl made their first cinematic appearance in 2005. Taylor Lautner initially played Sharkboy but chose to not return for the Netflix movie. Taylor Dooey plays Lava Girl in both movies and may return for the next chapter. We'll update as we hear more!
