Descent Into Horror: Neil Marshall's Next Will Be A Monster Movie, The Lair

Creator and director Neil Marshall seems to be soaking himself in horror again. After moving away from his chosen genre to work on television shows like Game of Thrones and Westworld, he seems to be making a full return to the genre. With his Hellboy reboot a failure across the board, he's finally back doing what he does best. His latest movie The Reckoning seems to be doing well with critics and fans alike. Now, he's going to get moving on a project which he says will be a full on horror flick that will get him back to practical effects and creatures. His new project which he hopes to start filming this May is called The Lair and he seems to be very excited about doing it! When speaking with Bloody Disgusting's podcast, he had this to say:

The Reckoning was certainly a return to horror, but I showed a degree of restraint. With the exception of one wagon wheel scene. So I wanted to come back and do a creature feature, I wanted to do some monsters, and just kind of combine elements from Dog Soliders and Aliens and Predators and things like that."

An early plot synopsis goes something like this:

The story centers on a downed Royal Air Force pilot who escapes a terrifying bunker in Afghanistan containing mutant man made biological weapons and unwittingly brings the creatures back to a U.S. Army Base.
