S.H. Figuarts Announces Shin Ultraman!

With the new teaser trailer of Shin Ultraman releasing at the beginning of February, there was surely going to be a figure of the over-sized hero coming as well.

The 55th anniversary of Ultraman is this year and the franchise has a deep well of material to draw upon. Shin Ultraman is planned to release this summer in Japan from director Shinji Higuchi and writer/producer Hideaki Anno. With the acclaimed success of Shin Godzilla in 2016 under their belts, this looks to be another modern ride into the world of kaiju and the heroes that fight them. Kaiju and tokusatsu have been making their presence known across the world in the past decade and this looks to be another landmark outing for the larger-than-life action genre.

This latest Ultraman design takes cues from an original painting by Toru Narita in 1983 called 'the incarnation of truth and justice and beauty' and homaging the physique of Ultraman's first suit actor, Bin Fuyura. Lean and towering, this Ultraman omits the chest timer and the usual eye peepholes in the mask but distills the Ultraman design elements wonderfully.

S.H. Figuarts Shin Ultraman is set for release in June 2021 for 5000 Yen before shipping and taxes and most sites have the figure up for pre-order. Three pairs of optional hands are included and wide ranging articulation give you a variety of poses for this 6 inch action figure. No word yet on the two giant monsters appearing in the trailer but it wouldn't surprise me if S.H. MonsterArts announces them soon.
