Sometimes Dead is Better: Paramount Developing Pet Sematary Origins Tale

It seems that dead really isn't better because Paramount is hot to continue churning out projects around their franchises and horror titles. Now, just a couple years after the Pet Sematary remake, they're getting ready to bring the graveyard tale back to cinemas with another tale that is sure to scare the daylights out of us. Although the 2019 movie wasn't a megahit like IT, it went on to gross $113 million against a $21 million budget. This was successful enough to get the execs over there thinking about continuing on with another movie. Apparently, the next in line will be a prequel of sorts that will tell of the mysterious beginnings of the cemetery that brings the dead back to life.

There's no word yet on who will take the directorial chair or whether Kevin Kolsch and Dennis Widmyer may come back again but the writer of the 2019 film, Jeff Buhler will be back scripting the next movie in the franchise.

The only thing that's been confirmed so far is that this will be an "origins story" and will go far into the past to creep us out even more. The only questions we have are these: Did anyone ask for this? And do we really need a backstory for Pet Sematary? Many will definitely say no way.

Here, kitty kitty........
