Darren Aronofsky's latest film is beginning to ramp up. His first film in several years, The Whale has begun more casting. With Brendan Fraser already taking up one of the lead roles in the upcoming A24 project, the movie has now added former Watchmen star Hong Chau in a starring role as well. Chau was previously nominated for her part on the HBO limited event series. Now, she'll take up starring for Aronofsky's latest film which will be an adaptation of the 2012 play that was written and developed by Samuel D. Hunter.

Hunter will be personally adapting the stage play to the screen format for Aronofsky. The story focuses on a 600 pound recluse that's hiding away, eating himself to death.

Samantha Morton and Sadie Sink are also in talks to join the cast along with Fraser and Chau. Sink would star as Fraser's daughter in the film.

Aronofsky's last film was 2017's mother! which didn't fair well at the box office but has developed a cult following much like his previous artistic movie works. It went on to earn an F rating on Cinemascore, one of only 22 films to receive such a low scoring. We're not sure when The Whale will begin filming but we'll update as we hear more!
