From Russia With Love: Matt Reeves To Produce English Language Remake of Sputnik

Last year saw the release of the science fiction horror film, Sputnik. The film was a Russian export that did great numbers for an indie film. The movie was centered on a young female scientist who is tasked with assessing a cosmonaut that's returned from a space after an accident that crossed him with a foreign organism. The movie drummed up quite a bit of hype and was recently released on blu-ray and streaming services. Now, the film will see a remake for American audiences that will retell the story for the domestic market.

Deadline has reported that Matt Reeves' 6th & Idaho production house will team with Village Roadshow to get the film remade. Village Roadshow's executive producer Jillian Apfelbaum had this to say:

“We believe Sputnik will translate well to English-speaking audiences and continue to captivate moviegoers worldwide with its thrilling story. We are eager to begin production and believe we have some of the best partners in the industry to reimagine Egor’s original vision while staying true to the film’s journey.”

There is no current date slated for the film's release as it is in the early developmental stages. We'll update as we hear more!
