Here Kitty, Kitty: Adam Wingard To Direct Live Action Thundercats for Warner Brothers

As his brand new Godzilla vs. Kong movie smashes its way to the top of the box office and streaming this week, director Adam Wingard has picked up another major franchise. The guy that behind the latest Monsterverse movie has officially been tapped by Warner Bros. to deliver a live action Thundercats movie. The '80s franchise has long been discussed as a possible adaptation and it looks like it's finally going to happen. The original show aired in 1985 and was eventually bought by WB in 1989. Now, the series will be getting its first ever live action iteration as Warner continues to attempt full domination over the box office in the coming years.

The animated series followed a group of heroic cat like humanoids that were from the planet Thundera. The Thundercats escape certain doom as their planet faces an apocalypse. Eventually the characters find a new home planet where they must face a new enemy.

The series has been rebooted a couple times for the small screen in 2011 and 2020 but has never never been translated for the silver screen. No news on when the film is set to release.
