You Solved The Box, We Came: Hellraiser Film Remake Heads to Hulu

The long discussed remake of Hellraiser has finally made some momentum. Today it was announced that the streaming outlet Hulu has acquired the rights to an upcoming restart of the franchise. They've recently taken over the film from Spyglass Media and will move forward with the movie from David Bruckner, who will see his latest movie The Night House released this August. He also made The Ritual for Netflix and was part of the V/H/S and Southbound film anthologies.

The new Hellraiser is said to be closer to the original novella, The Hellbound Heart. But that is all speculation at this time as no full details have been revealed yet. No cast or release date has been announced. Fans of the original series are still not sure how they feel about a full remake since so many fail to live up to their predecessors. Obviously, we'll update as we hear more. But it seems with Hulu behind the project, it will most likely go directly to their service instead of theaters. That in itself may be a questionable decision.

David Gordon Green is also working on a secondary Hellraiser project that is in the works at HBO. Clive Barker is attached as a producer on that show.
