The live action film adaptation of the popular Dynasty Warriors video game series is set to hit Netflix streaming this July. The movie which was originally scheduled to premiere in 2018 finally got a cinematic release in Hong Kong in April and hit mainland China as well. It will be coming to the streamer on July 1st. It was produced by the Hong Kong based company China 3D and is directed by Hin Yeung Chow. The director previously worked on Murderer, Nightfall, and Rise of the Legend with his wife, Christine To Chi-Long.
The new release will be the first attempt at bringing Dynasty Warriors to the screen outside of the video game world. The hack and slash game is a spin-off of the strategy game Romance of the Three Kingdoms. Dynasty Warriors 9 is the latest in the long running franchise and is available on major platforms including Xbox One, PS4 and PC.
It will be interesting to see how this translates to a movie. We'll be reviewing it day one!
