The upcoming Matrix sequel from Lana Wachowski has seen a long road to completion. Initially pushed back by months due to the pandemic, the film has finally made serious headway and will hit theaters later this year. Original cast members Keanu Reeves, Carrie-Anne Moss and Jada Pinkett Smith are all reprising their roles in the fourth Matrix entry, with much speculation around how they'd be returning after the deaths of Neo and Trinity. The film was announced in 2019 with Lana taking over full directorial duties on the project.
Apparently the movie is near completion as invites have been sent out for a test screening of the film. Although the invite says "A New Matrix Movie", it's been revealed that the title is officially The Matrix Resurrections. Those who have attended have said the fourth movie is "weird, surprisingly funny and ambitious to a fault". If anything, The Wachowskis have always been the definition of ambitious with their science fiction efforts.
For the record, even though the invite said "A New Matrix Movie," the on-screen title is officially THE MATRIX RESURRECTIONS done in the same style as RELOADED and REVOLUTIONS.
