Despite some fan outrage on the part of followers of the cult film, Showtime's new take on Let the Right One In is advancing forward. It's just been announced that the young star Madison Taylor Baez has been cast as the central character in the upcoming cable series. Actor Demian Bichir has already been announced as the fatherly role in the tale of a young vampire making her way in the world. Madison is well known for her turn as Selena in the recent series about the singing star who was murdered as her star was rising. Madison played the young Selena in several episodes of the show, making her mark as a young actor and quickly securing more work.

The Showtime series will be another retelling of the 2004 book and 2008 movie of the same name. The first two incarnations were Swedish but a remake called Let Me In was also released in the U.S. but was critically panned by film journalists and fans of the original citing that it didn't really grasp the source material and was truly unneeded because the original stands on its own.

This version will take us to New York while a father tries to hide his daughter's taste for blood after she's been bit by a vampire. We'll hold out hope that this is decent.
