The Marvel Cinematic Universe scored a massive win over the weekend. Their latest film, Black Widow starring Scarlett Johansson and Florence Pugh has set the box office ablaze with a massive opening few days. The new comic book movie has taken in over $200 million at the global box office in its first several days of release. It's cumulative total already sits at $215 million around the world, with $80 million from domestic ticket sales and $60 million from Disney+ streaming access. Just over $78 million came from international box office sales. This makes it the biggest weekend opening since the beginning of the pandemic and is the largest first weekend since Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker

It immediately surpassed the great numbers that F9 pulled in a couple weeks ago and once again proves what an absolute financial juggernaut the Marvel universe is. This is also the first movie to rake in more than $100 million on an opening weekend since global health crisis began. Black Widow falls just below Black Panther and Captain Marvel with its opening weekend number.

As her bow out of the role, this is a great sign that Scarlett Johansson has staying power at the global box office and that Marvel will continue dominating when it comes to blockbusters.
