Warner Bros. is continuing forward with the expansion of their DC film universe. Next up for the studio is the live action Batgirl movie which has been in development for quite some time now. Deadline reported earlier today that WB is officially working with a small group of actresses that will test for the role of Batgirl in the live action iteration of the comic book character. It's being reported that both their Batgirl and Zatanna movies are coming directly to HBO Max. The film has been in multiple states of development since 2017 and is finally making some forward momentum.
Along with the report was a small list of actresses that are apparently in the running for the part of Barbara Gordon. Isabella Merced, Zoey Deutch and Leslie Grace have all been noted as potential lead actresses for the part. Warner Bros. and DC chose not to comment when contacted by Deadline but it appears that the project is officially moving forward after Joss Whedon vacated directorial duties over three years ago.
