20,000 Leagues Under The Stream: Disney+ Orders A 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea Series

Disney is hard at work coming up with new movies for their upcoming launch of the streaming service that was announced this year. With numerous Star Wars shows in the works, more Marvel properties being adapted for the small screen, and a huge library of films to bring over, it looks like they're also getting into picking up shows produced by European companies. And this week, they took a major step.

Disney has announced that they are adapting the Jules Verne novel 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea into a ten part series for Disney Plus. The series is tentatively titled Nautilus

It is set to tell the origin story of Captain Nemo and his legendary submarine, The Nautilus. An Indian prince robbed of his birth right and family, a prisoner of the East India Company, and a man bent on revenge against the forces which have taken everything from him, Nemo sets sail with his ragtag crew on board the awe-inspiring vessel, battling foes and discovering magical underwater worlds.

There is no word yet on casting or when the show will enter production but we imagine that Disney will make this project a high priority for their streaming service to keep up their streaming dominance.
