It's that time again where we finally have a piece of news that isn't about something getting delayed by the Covid-19 crisis. While everything else is starting to reopen, studios are developing and looking into whatever they can make. A big part of this healing process is that films are returning to California. With these generous tax credits, twenty-three lucky productions will being shooting soon. Let's take a look at what's moving along in the production pipeline.

Out of the 23 productions, the projects that have been approved for these filming credits include 10 studio movies and 13 indies, all of which will be shot in the state of California. Some of the bigger productions include a new untitled film by Jean-Marc VallĂ©e about John Lennon and Yoko Ono, Zack Snyder’s sci-fi adventure Rebel Moon, and the long awaited Beverly Hills Cop 4.

Beverly Hills Cop 4, the result of a licensing deal between Netflix and Paramount, is set to generate $78 million in qualified spending in the state among the film's cast and crew over the course of 58 filming days in the state. Zack Snyder’s Rebel Moon, also made for Netflix, is set to generate $83 million in qualified spending over 117 filming days from working in California. The untitled John Lennon and Yoko Ono film is also estimated to bring in over 86.7 million dollars in qualified spending.  These aren't the only projects to come out of these tax incentives, we are told that Karyn Kusama, Jonah Hill, Kenya Barris, and Aziz Ansari will be involved with other projects that will benefit from these tax incentives.

According to the California Film Commission, all of these projects will hire an estimated 4,088 crew, 873 cast and 40,621 background actors and stand-ins for a combined 953 filming days. Not only this, but they will generate significant post-production jobs and revenue for California VFX artists, sound editors, sound mixers, musicians and other vendors. In these uncertain times, these projects are offering good work for those who need it and more films and shows for us to enjoy in the near future.
