Not only is this the 35th anniversary of Transformers: The Movie hitting theaters, but Beast Wars has its 25th anniversary as well! Both have representation on toy shelves this year due to Transformers War for Cybertron: Kingdom premiering on Netflix as well as the Studio Series line turning its eye towards the 1986 movie cast.
Starting with Deluxe, we’re getting a brand-new update to everyone’s long-winded scientist, Perceptor! Transforming from a microscope to robot, this Deluxe Class figure gets a clean and movie accurate rendering with the option for his mobile cannon third mode. Coming with a blaster rifle and a removable backdrop of the Battle of Autobot City, this Percy will fit right in with his movie compatriots.
Moving to the Voyager Class, we get the troop-builder Sweep. Not many differences from the previous release of Scourge, possibly a hand variation betwixt the two. Regardless, this tracker is meant to fill Galvatron’s new ranks with capable warriors and a handful of these space hovercrafts will always reveal a distinct tactical deficiency. Coming with a blaster and blast effect part as well as a vectored background from his reformatting Heralds of Unicron scene!
Lastly, we’re greeted with his royal eminence, Leader Class Coronation Starscream! Not since the Masterpiece figure in 2012, MP-11 Starscream, has one come with a poseable cape, shoulder armor pieces, and crown depicting his rise to power! But wait, we’re also getting a throne for him to briefly rule from in classic Decepticon purple! Two null ray blasters and a background of the throne room come with this ambitious ne’er-do-well!
