As readily available Alien merchandise can be, a significant update to the original is impressive. Mezco One:12 Collective announced preorders for its latest addition with the Xenomorph and nearly every accessory needed to recreate its initial appearance in the Alien franchise.
Affectionately referred to as ‘Big Chap’ to differentiate this from the subsequent variations and designs of the creature, this is the most straightforward of the Xenomorph appearances. Boasting an ‘all-new seamless body design with an internal skeleton armature that is durable yet highly posable’, this looks promising as joints and articulation at this scale tend to be obvious. The figure is 1/12 scale putting it at about 7 inches and the head has the tinted dome revealing the skull underneath as well as a hinged pharyngeal jaw. This will come with ‘hand painted authentic detailing’ and the costume is noted as having a ‘protein polysaccharides exoskeleton’.
Ready for the list of accessories? Here we go! Six sets of interchangeable hands, a flexible serrated tail, an interchangeable chest plate with harpoon damage, one open and one closed Ovamorph egg, three interchangeable inner mouths, a Chestburster, one open and one coiled Facehugger (which should fit most 1/12 scale figures), along with a display base with logo and adjustable display post.
Suggested retail is $100 USD and is available for preorder on most online collector sites as well as Mezco Toyz official site. Estimated arrival of March 2022 puts the gestation for this ‘perfect organism’ just a scant six months away.
