The Chronicles of Riddick: Vin Diesel Says The Sequel Is "Closer Than You Think"

As Vin Diesel prepares for the final two films in the long running Fast and the Furious franchise, he's also gearing up for a fourth film in the Riddick sci-fi/action series. Kicking off in 2000 with the lower budget flick, Pitch Black, the series has seen a few highs and lows with the two sequels, The Chronicles of Riddick and Riddick both seeing dwindling returns at the box office. Even though the follow ups were not the major studio hits they had expected, fans have been waiting for a fourth movie. And it looks like it's finally getting some momentum.

The star of the series took to Instagram earlier today and teased that they had a meeting about David Twohy's next installment in the series, Riddick 4:Furia, which will see the anti-hero return to his home planet. At least that's what is expected from the rumblings we've heard so far. Hopefully the next movie will move further back into the territory of the first entry and limit the massive spectrum that they attempted with The Chronicles of Riddick. Smaller seemed to work better with this franchise.

2000's Pitch Black recently received a 4K release via Arrow Video.
