Interview With The Vampire: AMC Series Casts Bailey Bass as Claudia

Anne Rice's Interview with the Vampire is officially moving ahead as an 8 episode event series on AMC. The show was announced quite some time back but is now finally making some momentum as casting has begun. Originally played by Kirsten Dunst in the 1994 film adaptation, the new show has cast Bailey Bass in the role of the young vampire forever frozen in time. In Rice's novel, Claudia is an orphaned child during the 1700s that is turned by Lestat and Louis. Bass has a few television titles to her name and will be starring in James Cameron's upcoming Avatar sequels.

The new version of Interview with the Vampire looks to be a full do over of the movie and will be an updated telling of the story. AMC acquired 18 of Rice's novels and looks to transition them to the screen. This will be the first title that they're working on which will appear during 2022 on the cable outlet and their streaming platform AMC+.

The original film starred Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt, Christian Slater, Kirsten Dunst, and Antonio Banderas. At the time, it was a massive box office hit. Unfortunately, they could not get the sequels together and the planned franchise never happened. The 2002 follow up Queen of the Damned recast the role of Lestat and was a box office bomb. This will be the first iteration of the character on screen since then.
