Tales of the Walking Dead: Anthology Show Coming To AMC in 2022

AMC looks to step away from the episodic formula of their current Walking Dead shows with the announcement of a new anthology based series. Tales of The Walking Dead will see the cable outlet step into new territory with a brand new series that will further expand the franchise and will spend each week with different characters and stories. The show will revisit some that we've already met but will introduce a whole new lineup of folks battling the zombie armageddon. The first set of episodes will be limited to six and will drop in 2022. They are readying it for production early into next year.

Channing Powell who wrote for The Walking Dead and Fear the Walking Dead is on board as the showrunner. Scott Gimple will also be returning as the content officer for the latest incarnation of the ever expanding franchise.

AMC's Dan McDermott had this to say about the announcement:

"The Walking Dead is a show that made television history and attracted an army of passionate and highly engaged fans. We see so much potential for a wide range of rich and compelling storytelling in this world, and the episodic anthology format of Tales of the Walking Dead will give us the flexibility to entertain existing fans and also offer an entry point for new viewers, especially on streaming platforms. We have seen the appeal of this format in television classics like The Twilight Zone and, more recently, Black Mirror, and are excited to engage with fans in this new way, against the backdrop of this very unique and engrossing world.”
