What Does Not Kill You: Mel Gibson To Headline John Wick Prequel

At one point in time, Mel Gibson was the biggest actor and one of the most successful directors in Hollywood. Due to a bigoted tirade and some rather choice words, Gibson lost his spot in the limelight and was ousted from his megastar status. For over a decade, he's attempted a comeback. While he's a had a couple great directorial efforts including his war epic Hacksaw Ridge, he's been mostly relegated to lower budgeted features or straight to video work. Last year, he starred as Santa Claus in the Christmas action flick, Fat Man

Now he looks to be regaining some of his former stardom as he'll be taking up a lead role in the upcoming John Wick prequel project, The Continental. He'll be playing a character named Cormac, that no details have been released about yet. It was revealed today that Gibson will be one of the main characters in the movie. The synopsis is as follows:

The Continental will explore the origin behind the hotel-for-assassins, which increasingly has become the centerpiece of the John Wick universe. This will be accomplished through the eyes and actions of a young Winston Scott, who is dragged into the Hell-scape of a 1975 New York City to face a past he thought he’d left behind. Winston charts a deadly course through New York’s mysterious underworld in a harrowing attempt to seize the iconic hotel, which serves as the meeting point for the world’s most dangerous criminals.
