Destroyer of Worlds: Robert Downey Jr. And Matt Damon Join Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer

It has been a while since we have heard anything about Christopher Nolan, outside of his complaints about HBO Max. Just to recap, Nolan was irritated by Warner Brothers decision to release all of their 2021 films on to HBO Max the same time they were in theaters. This decision, compounded by his frustration with the rollout for last summer's Tenet, led Nolan to leave the studio he has called home for twenty years. Naturally, this sent the major studios into a feeding frenzy, ending with Universal sweeping in to finance and release Nolan's next film.

Nolan's next film, Oppenheimer, is set to tell the story of the scientist who ran the Manhattan Project, that led to the invention of the atomic bomb. Cillian Murphy is set to play Oppenheimer. It was revealed earlier that Emily Blunt was also set to join the cast. The ensemble keeps growing in star power as Matt Damon and Robert Downey Jr. are in talks to join the cast. There is no word yet on who they are playing but these two are major catches for a filmmaker like Chris Nolan.

Nolan is writing and directing the film. The film will release on July 21st, 2023, in the  slot typically saved for Nolan films in the past. We will follow this film with bated breath.
