Galactic News: Star Wars - Rangers of the Republic Series Shelved at Disney

It may come as no surprise, but there appears to be a bit more bad news coming from Disney+ and Lucasfilm. Ever since the firing of Gina Carano, there has been no updated news about their announced series, Rangers of the Republic. Well, it now appears that the show that would have appeared on their streaming outlet has officially been shelved or just straight up scrapped altogether. In the last few weeks we've heard the reports that the Patty Jenkins lead Rogue Squadron had been taken off the production slate due to artistic differences and that Rian Johnson's trilogy had also been canned by the production leadership on Star Wars.

With their central star, Carano out of the picture, they seem to be aiming to moving their ideas for Rangers over to The Mandalorian in coming seasons.

And it looks as if Rangers of the Republic is on the chopping block. When speaking with Empire magazine recently, Kathleen Kennedy said that, "We'd never written any scripts or anything on that". She added, "Some of that will figure into future episodes, I'm sure, of Mandalorian".

It's also been reported by Variety that Rangers of the Republic is not in active development and is no longer on the roster of original series coming to Disney+. Many fans were upset that it was announced that Kathleen Kennedy has recently re-upped her contract with Disney for several more years.
