Re-Enter The Matrix - The Complete Edition 3xLP Album Coming Soon!

From the opening Warner Brothers logo to the closing scenes of the film’s hero Neo (Keanu Reeves) looking up into the sky before flying through it, Don Davis’ moody yet excitement filled score for The Wachowskis’ 1999 cements itself into the viewer’s subconsciousness.  Like the White Rabbit which Neo follows leading him down an unthinkable labyrinth of rabbit holes, so too does Davis’ alluring yet tension filled score lead you down a sonic vortex from which you feel there’s no escape from bottomlessness.  An electric, percussive and at times bombastic score, Davis’ work on The Matrix helped enhance the paranoia and otherworldliness of the strange cybernetic netherworld our hero finds himself disappearing into.

Alongside the film’s smash hit box office success were two soundtrack albums released, one with preexisting pop rock tracks littered throughout the film and another album with none other than Davis’ iconic score.  While Warner Brothers handled the compilation album it was Varèse Sarabande, arguably the greatest and most dedicated protectors of film music album releases, who handled the Don Davis original score album.  While many competing boutique labels would’ve clamored to get their hands on The Matrix score, let us be thankful Varèse Sarabande still has the rights as they are preparing for a June 3, 2022 release date a massive triple album containing every single recorded cue in the original 1999 megahit.  Whereas the original album only contained eleven selected tracks, the new release brings it to a whopping forty-four!

Available for preorder on Amazon, this new album will consist of a 3xLP vinyl record release with a tri-fold jacket with new original artwork included.  Also available exclusively on the Varèse Sarabande website will be CD, SACD and high-end digital platforms.  The score will be fully remastered and as comprehensive of a soundtrack album release for the original The Matrix as has ever been attempted to date.  Though Davis isn’t involved in the newest installment to what seems to be the ongoing The Matrix franchise, this forthcoming soundtrack album is a dream come true which canonizes his indelible musical contribution to the film which all but drove ahead the hero’s deep dive into a world neither he (nor we) could have possibly imagined.
