Taking Out The Future's Garbage: Rian Johnson's Looper Gets 10th Anniversary 4K Re-Release

Long before internet meltdown's over Rian Johnson's The Last Jedi, the director made the sci-fi/action time travel flick called Looper. The film stars Joseph Gordon Levitt and Bruce Willis as the main character in the movie that helped launch Johnson's career outside the indie film industry. The film was a box office success for the studio with over $176 million in receipts. It garnered mixed reviews from critics and audiences alike. It was also one of the final major motion pictures to star Bruce Willis before he crossed over into making mostly direct to video movies with tiny budgets. Levitt and Willis play both old Joe and Young Joe in the film.

Today, it's been announced that the movie will be getting a 4K UHD release in honor of its tenth anniversary. The updated home video package will include 22 deleted scenes, director's commentary, behind the scenes featurettes and even more bonus materials.

This will be the first time the film has been released since its initial cinematic run and the blu-ray release shortly after its theatrical jaunt. Although it's not a perfect movie by any means, it does mix genres quite well and will be a welcome addition to any collector's 4K library.
