One of the most awaited films of 2021 will be coming into our homes next week. That's right. Ghostbusters:Afterlife is getting a release on digital formats for rental next week, January 4th, 2022. The film will be released on blu-ray, 4K, and DVD on February 1, 2022.
This is exciting news as many have not been back to the theaters yet due to the ongoing pandemic. It was initially delayed for almost a year as the health crisis continued to have an impact on theatrical releases. Afterlife has shown some success for the long dormant franchise with just over $120 million in box office sales. Considering the generally positive response to the film, it will definitely see more life in the streaming and rental formats.
Ghostbusters: Afterlife mixed a new cast with classic characters and has revitalized the franchise for old fans and new fans alike. There are current plans for another sequel which will once again see the team in action, battling against ghosts. Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, Annie Potts and Sigourney Weaver all returned in their roles from the original two films. The new cast was led by McKenna Grace, Finn Wolfhard, Paul Rudd, and Carrie Coon.
