Fight For The Users: Jared Leto Says Tron 3 is "Getting Closer"

It's been well over a year since it was announced that Jared Leto would be starring in a third Tron film. The news was celebrated as fans of the first two movies have been holding out hope for another sequel and a continuation of the franchise built by Disney. Although Tron:Legacy wasn't as massive a hit as they had hoped, it spawned a successful animated series and the franchise maintains a fan base to this very day. Word of a third film was announced then things seemed to go quiet again. But now it seems as though work is moving forward again and that Leto is still attached to be the main player in the next series entry.

When speaking with ScreenRant about the project, he had this to say:

"I'm a super fan of Tron and we are working hard on Tron with our incredible partners at Disney. Just an amazing group of creative people. We're getting closer. We're getting closer and who knows? Something may be coming sooner than later."

Although this isn't a confirmation from the studio it sounds like things are finally ramping up and we may finally get Tron 3. Where the story goes from here remains to be seen as it seemed to have a decent conclusion with Legacy. Unfortunately, we're not sure if any of the characters from the previous movies will be returning.
