The Batman Breaks The Bank: Matt Reeves Batman Crosses Half A Billion at The Box Office

Matt Reeves iteration of The Batman has officially crossed the half billion mark at the global box office. After a mere two weeks in release, the DC movie has met a major marker with its latest take on the Gotham Knight. The film which halted production numerous times due to the global pandemic is turning out to be a major financial and critical hit for Warner Bros. and their brand. While many weren't sure that Robert Pattinson would pull off the role, the movie seems to be putting many doubts to bed as sequel talk is already ramping up. The Batman had the biggest DC opening since 2016's Suicide Squad bringing in $134 million in its first weekend and continues to climb every day.

The film has officially grossed $505.8 million globally as of Wednesday. $253 million is in U.S. domestic ticket sales. The remainder is $247.5 million from box office abroad. Warner Bros. chairperson Toby Emmerich was thrilled with the financial success of the film:

"We couldn't be more thrilled to see people all over the world enjoying The Batman in theaters. Matt Reeves has delivered an extraordinary film that manages to honor the legacy of this global cultural hero while taking moviegoers into an experience that feels fresh and original. We congratulate Matt, Dylan, Walter, Chantal, Robert and Zoƫ, and the entire cast and crew on this wonderful benchmark."
