She'll Tear Your Soul Apart: David Goyer Teases "Jaw Dropping" New Hellraiser

When it was first announced that a female would be taking over as the lead Cenobite in the upcoming Hellraiser relaunch, many fans were taken aback and others were very excited as it means this will be a brand new spin on the source material. Almost immediately, the people behind the film said that they were going back to Clive Barker's original vision for the story. This only means good things as it will be steering clear of what we've all come to know from the existing film versions, a few good but mostly bad with dwindling returns over the course of numerous sequels and revisits.

Now, producer David Goyer has come out and said the new film and current footage are "jaw dropping". And it sounds like they're following through on their promise to revisit the novella, The Hellbound Heart while creating the new version which is said to drop still in 2022.

When speaking with Collider, Goyer had this to say:

"I will say that we went back to the original novella for the source material, we're really honoring Clive's work. I can say that David Bruckner is a genius. It's filming right now. The footage is terrifying and amazing, and the Cenobites are jaw dropping."

It sounds like our worst nightmares of a terrible reboot may be quashed as it really does seem like they're trying to honor the legacy of the story they're working from.

The new Hellraiser stars Jamie Clayton as the new lead Cenobite. We're not sure if she'll be called Pinhead as that name was not used in the novella. The film is currently in production in Serbia. Bruckner previously directed last year's The Night House and the Netflix streaming film The Ritual.
