Never Talk To Strangers: Director Teases Kiefer Sutherland's Return in Dark City TV Series

The creator and director of Dark City has teased a potential return for Kiefer Sutherland in the television series he's actively developing. The original 1998 noir science fiction film shared many of the same themes as The Matrix and ultimately failed to be a major box office success, however has a large cult following. The film was also a critical hit despite its financial failures. Currently, Alex Proyas is working on a script to relaunch his dark futuristic world as a TV show with high hopes for its return sometime soon.

The original film featured Sutherland as Daniel Schreber, a doc that works alongside an extraterrestrial species called the Strangers who imprison and experiment on human subjects. Rufus Sewell, Jennifer Connelly, William Hurt and Melissa George also starred alongside Sutherland in the film.

Now, Alex Proyas has teased that Sutherland may return when and if the series gets picked up. When posting to FB, Proyas stated that Sutherland, "might be back in those shoes" and said that he hopes that Kiefer would be open to reprising his role. Sutherland has never been one to turn down television work so it wouldn't be surprising. Considering Dark City's long running cult status, it would be interesting to see the continuation of his character this many years later.
