Nobody Left to Kill It: John Carpenter's The Thing Returning To Theaters For 40th Anniversary

Forty years after its initial release in cinemas, John Carpenter's horror sci-fi classic, The Thing will be creeping back into theaters once again. Celebrating its 40th anniversary, the film will head to cinemas for two days only. Announced by Fathom Events, The Thing will be in limited theaters on June 19th, 2022 and June 22, 2022. Tickets are currently available on their website for purchase to the celebratory re-release.

"I loved making this movie and I'm so excited that people can celebrate it and see it in theaters 40 years later", Carpenter posted to Twitter earlier today.

The film is very well known for its practical effects work and visual design. Although it was not a huge hit when initially released, it continues to build a massive cult following with dozens of other films copying its story, tone, and style. It was a remake of the classic 1951 film, The Thing From Another World, adopting much of its story but making the central creature much more mysterious....and gory.

The film starred Kurt Russell in his prime alongside Keith David, Wilford Brimley and numerous others.
