Where We're Going, We Don't Need Eyes To See: Event Horizon 4K Remaster Is Coming!!!

While there is no officially confirmed news, rumors are swirling today that the sci-fi horror hybrid, Event Horizon will be getting a 4K treatment in the coming months. The 1997 film from Paul W.S. Anderson wasn't received well upon it theatrical release but has been continuing to gain momentum as the years go by. It's been released on blu-ray several times up until this point, but is now being rumored by European sources that Paramount is readying the ship to relaunch in a brand new 4K package which will apparently feature upgraded audio along with a restored master. Obviously, we'll update as we hear more but we are very excited at this proposition.

The science fiction film about a space crew aboard a vessel that devolves in to a literal hellscape features some amazing visuals and excellent performances from its entire cast that features Sam Neill, Laurence Fishburne, Kathleen Quinlan and many more. At the time of its cinematic release, audiences and critics were not too keen on its story. It does steal elements from several other films, but with time seems to get more respect. It was Anderson's third feature film after he directed the original live action Mortal Kombat and Shopping. He would later move on to directing his wife in several Resident Evil movies.

There's no word on when the Event Horizon 4K UHD remaster will be released but we'll be waiting by for any other details. Meanwhile, we'll still be holding out hope for the 4K release of James Cameron's The Abyss.
