We're Gonna Need A Bigger Boat: Spielberg Classics E.T. and Jaws Coming to IMAX

As theaters continue to normalize after nearly two years of shutdowns, it's been announced that two Steven Spieberg classic films will be returning to cinemas for a limited run IMAX release. E.T. The Extra Terrestrial and Jaws will both be hitting the format very soon.

Celebrating its 40th anniversary, E.T. is set to get its first ever IMAX release on August 12, 2022. The story about a boy that meets an alien lifeform who becomes his best friend continues to be one of the greatest movies ever made and will be returning to cinemas for a limited engagement.  It became the highest grossing film of 1982 and features amazing practical effects. At one point there was discussion of a sequel but that never came to be.

Also, hitting cinemas will be Spielberg's 1975 shark movie, Jaws. The movie which is based on Peter Benchley's novel will be released in both RealD 3D and IMAX on September 2, 2022. Jaws is most notably known for being the original summer blockbuster, also the highest grossing of its original release year. The film has seen numerous re-releases over the years but this will be the first time it'll be available in IMAX.
