The fourth Thor movie starring Chris Hemsworth in the lead role has gone on to take the number one spot this weekend at the box office. The newest movie, Thor: Love and Thunder is estimated to bring in $143 million in its opening frame, which is the biggest opening ever for a Thor film. The total meets the expectations of Marvel execs and box office analysts meaning the movie is doing great numbers overall and will undoubtedly spawn another sequel. This is also a career high opening weekend for both Natalie Portman and Taika Waititi. This opening ranks behind the openign weekends of Multiverse of Madness with $187.4 million and Jurassic World: Dominion with $145 million.

Love and Thunder has received an extremely mixed critical response. Some say the film is too much of a comedy while others like its break from the Marvel formula and its '80s action throwback style. It continues in the same direction as Ragnarok but steps up the humor in almost every scene. Despite some negative early reactions to Christian Bale's villain, he seems to be one of the high points as he adds a dramatic depth to the film that would otherwise be missing.

We will undoubtedly be getting another Thor movie, whether Waititi is back for another remains to be seen as he has a Star Wars project all lined up at this point.
