Ana De Armas continues her rise with the upcoming Marilyn Monroe biography film but has also been set to star in the upcoming John Wick spin-off film, Ballerina. She's previously starred in other action films such as No Time To Die, Blade Runner 2049, and the upcoming project, The Gray Man. The star, who made her Hollywood debut in the Keanu Reeves thriller, Knock Knock, will be playing the lead role in Ballerina, a tale from the John Wick film universe and will apparently be joined by Anjelica Huston and Reeves in cameos. The film which is loosely based on the French action film, La Femme Nikita will be directed by Len Wiseman with Chad Stahelski serving in a producer role.

With most of the production team being male, De Armas felt the movie needed a female touch. So, she brought in the writer of Promising Young Woman to handle co-scripting duties. Writer Emerald Fennell was hired to take up work on the project. Fennell was showrunner on season two of Killing Eve and also starred in The Danish Girl, Call The Midwife, and The Crown. She made her feature film directorial debut with Promising Young Woman in 2020.

Armas next release will be the Monroe biopic, Blonde which is set to premiere on September 23, 2022.
