We've Been Called Ghost Hunters: The Conjuring 4 in Active Development

After drumming up a massive haunted shared universe of films including The Nun and several Annabelle movies, it looks like another sequel is on the way. That's right. It's been reported that The Conjuring is getting a fourth entry that's currently in development with writer David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick working on a script. The last movie in the long running franchise The Devil Made Me Do It was a critical disaster but proved that the series still has box office legs. McGoldrick was behind the script for The Conjuring 2 and 3. He also wrote the upcoming Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.

Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson are both expected to be on board for the fourth entry, returning to their respective roles as the paranormal investigators, Lorraine and Ed Warren. However, no deal has been signed yet. James Wan will once again return in a producer role with no official word on who will be directing the upcoming feature film.

The 2013 Conjuring was a box office smash taking in over $320 million worldwide and spawned numerous spin-offs. It's no doubt that the next one will also be a hit for the studio.
